Pantone Color of the Year: A Home Styling Guide for 2017

Since the announcement of this year’s naturally inspired Pantone Color of the Year (“Greenery”), we’ve been thinking about all of the ways to refresh the home kitchen with the calming hues of moss and fern. Greenery’s bright pop of color is perfect for your kitchen, bathroom, and other places in the home—adding fresh, rejuvenating tones to your most heavily used spaces. Marked as the “shade of new beginnings,” this inspirational color has quickly become a crowd favorite.

In honor of this new hue, we’ve compiled an assortment of our favorite greenery-inspired items for your home and kitchen. From calming pale shades to mix-hued renditions, this color offers a vast palette of similar tints and tones—each one as exciting as the last. Here’s a look at a few of our favorite Propped home kitchen items in the greenery color family.

1. Verbena

These playful espresso crumpled tumblers from REVOL transform a mundane, everyday item into a work of functional art. Their bright verbena color and refined style make these little ceramic cups a cute way to enjoy small serving desserts or beverages. They can even double as small planters for your air plants or small succulents. No matter how you use them, these ceramic solo cup tumblers are a fun, modern twist on a familiar item.

2. Sage

The hand-painted stippled rice bowl by David Odaka elevates coloring to an art form. His complex glaze includes a swath of textured greens and grays, making this piece a true design triumph. Whether you’re using it as a display item, ingredient bowl, or salad dish, this piece shows the full possibilities

3. Seafoam

As another tasteful iteration of green glazed pottery, the altered landscape porcelain platter bowl from Deb’s Pots uses two-toned design to enhance form.  The dipped green edge creates a painterly, textured finish that’s highlighted by the soft white foundation glaze. As the name implies, this platter bowl also offers versatile use with soups and salads as well as veggie and grain dishes.

4. Moss

For the lover of all things speckled and stoneware, this long ceramic platter is a surefire style homerun. Its long, narrow shape is perfect for loading up your homemade sushi, caprese salads, and morning fruit slices. This creative interpretation of the 2017 Pantone color of the year offers an earthier, toned-down option for those who lean towards muted neutrals.

5. Clover

With St. Patrick’s Day on the horizon, this set of three individual cupcake stands sings out for sweet treats, like little piles of gold foil-wrapped coins or special holiday cupcakes. Their vintage-inspired shaping and ample stand surface open a number of fun possibilities. Tiny breakfast quiches? Mini layer cakes? Individual towers of shortbread cookies? We’ll leave that part up to you.
